Transfer

Students will be able to independently use their learning to…

  • Create projects relating to 3D materials, maintenance and use, such as: pottery, basketry, large scale sculpture
  • Create projects relating to the elements and principles of design by exploring: composition and understanding 3D form

*Will be able to identify and use elements to create own work

  • Create projects relating to individual interpretation through concrete and abstract concepts such as: visual problem solving, personal invention and imagery

*Abstraction of ideas and representations

  • To create projects relating to generating ideas, sketches, and completed work

*Interpretation and exploration lead to multi-step, in depth investigation of idea and/or subject matter.

  • Objectively critique their work and the works of others

*Personal reflection and critique in oral and written form

  • Maintain a digital portfolio of individual work that shows both visual evidence and written understanding of the MA standards
  • Analyze the characteristics of 3D materials to determine best methods for self- expression
  • Understand role of sculptors, potters & craftsmen in history of art

Meaning

Students will understand that…

  • The goal for students is to have a basic understanding of 3D artmaking through experimenting with and experiencing different techniques and understanding how these methods differ from other art techniques.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS

  • What is 3D art & craft?
  • What are various 3D techniques?
  • How do you use these techniques for self-expression?
  • How do artists find their self expression through 3D art?

Acquisition

      Students will know...

  • Art Materials & techniques of various 3D  methods
  • Exploration & application of various 3D  methods for self expression
  • How to convey their ideas through observation, abstraction, invention and expression
  • When a work of art is complete
  • Why and how to interpret and evaluate their own artwork and the artwork of others

Students will be skilled at………

  • Using appropriate tools for art making in 3D
  • Identifying various 3D materials and techniques used to create them
  • Use the design process of draft, edit, revise, exhibit to create iterations of their ideas.

Stage 2 - Evidence

Evaluative Criteria

Assessment Evidence

Individual critique in class - formative

  • Teachers works one on one with student while they are working  in class

Creation of a digital portfolio-summative

  • All work from the class is uploaded to a digital process portfolio. This includes sketches, brainstorming, iterations, photos of products, original work and critical responses. Students identify methods, materials & techniques, elements and principles of design, use of observation, abstraction, invention and expression, drafts, and finished work in their portfolio.
