Weekly Bulletin

January 1 - January 5, 2018  |  Week 18

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a restful, enjoyable break and is returning to BAA ready to finish out the semester well and to gear up for Intersession. We have a short week this week for students: students only have school on Thursday 1/4 and Friday 1/5, with regular schedules both days. Then we have a little under two weeks before the semester ends on Thursday, January 18.

As we come to the end of a semester, I always ask students to remember how important it is to stay engaged in what they are doing and to end well. Performing artists know that the execution of the ending of a piece is crucial. A strong beginning and a powerful middle section can all be undone by an ending that falls flat, or even worse, falls apart. In the Visual Arts department, we talk about ideas being fully resolved and having refined craft. The point is to maintain focus until you have finished the process and finished the product.  My hope is that students will come back to school on Thursday, January 4 with a seriousness of purpose and with clear intentions.

Have a great week!

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT OUTS

Shout out to the music department and all students who participated in 6 amazing winterfest music concerts!

Shout out to Ms. Polito and the Fashion Tech students who, through The Warrior Project, made toys to distribute to sick children at Boston Children's Hospital during the holiday season. A parent of one of those recipients left the following message on BAA's Facebook page: “My son is a patient at Boston Children's Hospital, where he is being treated for leukemia. I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the handmade bear from one of your students. Please let the students who made them know that they are very much appreciated.”

Congratulations to the following students on their college acceptances:

  • Tajazziah Booth, Colby Sawyer College and a $30,000 scholarship
  • Madeline O'Brien, George Mason University
  • Rosely Polanco, George Mason University
  • Noah Foley, Newbury College and a $19,000 scholarship
  • Sydnie Cooper, Temple University
