Weekly Bulletin

October 16 - October 20, 2017  |  Week 8

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Last week we began "ideation" (or brainstorming) for Intersession, an important tradition at Boston Arts Academy.

Intersession is a week between semesters when regular classes suspend to make way for artistic, interdisciplinary, project-based expeditions. The goal of Intersession is to live the part of our mission that says we are “charged with being a laboratory…for artistic and academic innovation.” Our aim is to design and to carry out student-centered experiences in which adults are co-learners; to honor play, exploration, and trust in the creative process; and to experience some deep learning while building community. Many students say Intersession is their favorite time of the year, and many graduates have said Intersession is where they discovered new passions, talents, and connections.

Families: I encourage you to ask your students what plans they have formulating...or even engage with them in the "ideation." So much of high school is what others decide your education should be; intersession is an opportunity to create your own path. I encourage all students to take advantage of it.

Have a great week!

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT OUTS

Thank you to the students who represented BAA at the Fenway Alliance "Opening Doors" celebration!
