December 12, 2019  Meeting with Bruce Lund,  Service Projects Director, Chapala Sunrise

The sign presented in our November meeting is still our best option.   Blue lettering on a white background.

Project cost;  Approximately 5500 pesos total.  Sign, labor, materials to install.

Hector has provided the name of the person, Isacc Trejo, Sindeco at the municipality to whom our letter will be addressed.  We plan to hand carry the letter, set up an appointment with Hector’s help to meet with Issac.

 Mac will work up a draft of the letter, share with Bruce.   We will use a professional translator, the same one that did the H2H grants, to put into Spanish.

Letter is required to be signed off by the club presidents.

The Joco Club has responded to any emails as wanting to be involved in the project.   That being said Bruce and I are recommending that we still include their club name on the sign.  We are all Rotarians.

Timeline-Meet with Issacc Trejo in January, to present letter of request.

We are now gathering examples of Rotary signage via the web.

RE:  Discussion of Rotary Signage Joint Club Project

The purpose of today’s meeting was to discuss the feasibility of a joint club project for Rotary signage here at lakeside.  This idea has been discussed previously, most recently last Rotary year.

In order to move forward the following tasks were assigned;

  1.  Frank will meet with Hector to get the parameters for placing a sign on municipality property.  Hector had stated to Frank that a formal letter, cosigned by the club presidents, with said details would be submitted to the mayor of the municipality for approval.   Hector noted to Frank that a detailed plan, that answered all the questions, makes it easier for the municipality to take action/approve.
  2. Mac will contact the Jocotepec Club to invite them to participate in the project.  Frank lives in the Jocotepec area and is willing to attend a club meeting to further discuss.
  3. Location- Tentative- The junction of the highway/bypass.   (Walmart)
  4. Research-Once Frank has secured the details from Hector, Bruce/Mac will explore what other Rotary Clubs have done.
  5. It was agreed that a sign design should be durable, attractive, conveys club information.
