PGOffline Export (updated 12/27/2019)
(printable/downloadable version)
Select the Group you want to export.
Click on “File”, then select “Export to Folder” from the dropdown
The “Export To Folder” window will open.
You will be storing this PG4 file inside a folder with the exact name of the Group (for the purposes of this tutorial we’re going to call this the Master Group X Archive Folder). In the example above the folder name would be SG1_Music_Videos
Click on “Browse” and navigate to your Master Group Archive Folder. Make certain your Group has a checkbox next to it. Then click Export.
It will save the database as a file with a.PG4 extension
Now you need to copy the Files/Photos/Links/Attachments for each Group into the new Master Group X Archive Folder which holds the messages you just exported
Where are these Folders stored?
C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\PG Offline 4
In Windows “AppData” is sometimes hidden, so try copy and pasting
C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\PG Offline 4 (where XXXX is your User name)
Inside PG Offline 4, all files, photos, attachments and links are stored inside generic folders (we call then the Storage Folders)
And inside the generic Storage Folders for Files, photos, attachments and links, each group has their own sub folder.
Getting ready to copy
Because PGOffline stores all items for each Group using the same Group name, you will need to set up subgroups inside the Master Group Archive Folder.
Otherwise when you copy these folders into the Master Group Archive Folder, they will overlap. Make certain the Master Group Archive Folder has subfolders before copying
Some Groups will not have Files, some with not have Photos, some will not have Links etc.
Now that you have set up separate Files, Photos, Links, Attachments folders inside the Master Group Archive Folder, go back to the Storage Folder with your group name. Copy and paste each folder into Master Group Archive Folder (do this for Files, Photos, Attachments, and Links)
Here is a video tutorial (there is no sound)
Look for “Group” in the toolbar. Click and you will see “Export Messages” as a drop down.
Once you click on “Export Messages” you will see a variety of options.
Select “Export to Multiple HTML Files”, then Browse to your Desktop.
It will prompt you to to store the Exported messages inside a folder. Select the previously created Master Group X Archive Folder).
Select, the newly created Master Group XArchive Folder then click “Export”
If you are on Windows, you can use the free 7.zip program https://www.7-zip.org/
Make certain the zipped file has the same name as you see inside PGOlffine. Double check to see that the Master Group X Archive Folder contains
GroupName.pg4
Group Name HTML messages (folder) (optional)
Files (folder)*
Photos (folder)*
Links (folder)*
Attachments (folder)*
*Remember some Groups may not have Files, and only Photos. Some only only Photos and not links etc.
Do not delete the original files until we have verified that everything went OK
