Accessibility and Learning Diversity

At Branksome Hall, all students have the opportunity to learn and be assessed under conditions that are as fair as possible. Students can present with a variety of learning styles and needs which may require accommodations; the school provides support for all types of learners. Through the development of a Learning Strategies Plan, a formal written educational plan for students with an identified learning need, inclusive classrooms and differentiated instruction, teachers work to support students with a variety of learning needs.

Each student plays an important role in this process. They must come to understand that learning differences are part of our rich, diverse learning environment. While they may learn differently than many of their classmates, each student has a voice that is encouraged and welcomed in the classroom. Part of a student’s role is to learn to self-advocate. The Learning Strategies Team will work with each student until to promote self- advocacy skills.

There is dedicated space for the Learning Strategies program and adaptive technology is available. The space is used for teaching and learning purposes, as a quiet student work space, and as a place to provide testing accommodations.
