Weekly Bulletin

October 8 - October 12, 2018  |  Week 6

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Intersession ideation (which means brainstorming, the developing of concepts and ideas) begins in advisory on Tuesday. Intersession is a week between semesters when regular classes suspend to make way for artistic, interdisciplinary, project-based expeditions. Our goal in intersession is to create a space where students and adults are co-learners and both students and adults can create their own projects. Many students say Intersession is their favorite time of the year, and many graduates have said Intersession is where they discovered new passions, talents, and connections. This is the time to try out another discipline, pursue an artistic idea, and collaborate with students outside your major. I have been particularly proud of the students who have taken the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by being Intersession Leaders or Co-leaders.

I encourage students to think big...and also to think about our new neighborhood. There are a lot of opportunities right outside our doors for collaboration and innovation. I can't wait to see what you will come up with for Intersession 2019.

Have a great week everyone!

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT-OUTS

PSAT at Boston Arts Academy. Boston Arts Academy will administer the PSAT Exam on Saturday, October 13 beginning at 8:00 am. The PSAT is great preparation for the SAT. Taking the PSAT is also a way to practice and get familiar with the format of the SAT. Another reason for students to take the PSAT is that many scholarship sponsors offering scholarships to juniors ask for students to submit their PSAT scores.

Students can prepare for the PSAT by going to khanacademy.org where they can take PSAT practice tests. Students have already been registered for the PSAT and the fees have been paid by Boston Public Schools. To learn more about taking the PSAT go to collegeboard.org.

On test day BAA sophomores and juniors should arrive by 7:45am.

What to bring on test day:

Two No. 2 pencils

Graphing calculator

If you have questions contact Ms. Hairston at chairston@bostonartsacademy.org.
