Weekly Bulletin

January 14 - January 18, 2019  |  Week 19

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Cape Verdean Dance and Culture; Ceramics; Comics/Animation/Graffiti; Game Design and Youtube Page Creation; Hip Hop Dance; Step Team; Winter Hiking and Biking; Wood Carving and Wood Printing...these are just some of the Intersession adventures our students will be starting next week! We are excited to begin this week of interdisciplinary learning and creativity; it's a BAA tradition and something unique to our community.

Studies show that the only way to "learn" creativity is to practice it, and our first intention is to give our young artists the time and space to explore and follow their passions. Our second intention is for students to enjoy what they're doing! Recently published research also shows that everyday creative behavior is both a cause and an effect of positive psychological processes (Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, Feb. 2014).

Intersession is for many students and teachers the best time of the year. And Intersession works best when we all commit to its purpose. We ask students to respect the space, time, and projects this week. Our community standards still hold, and we want everyone to be able to have a positive, engaging experience.

Have a great Intersession everyone, and a great week!

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT-OUTS

Shout out to Malik Mitchell who won the BAA August Wilson Monologue Contest! He will compete at the semi-finals in Boston on January 19th. The winner in Boston goes to the National Competition in NYC in May.
