Exemplar: Advanced Class
Across the land, it’s not uncommon to find religious orders dedicated to the eradication of the enemies of the Divine.
Exemplars are holy warriors who are granted divine power by their faith and Oaths they make. They are venerated soldiers of their faith, exacting their diety’s justice in the name spoken by them in their soft moments of faith. Most Exemplars begin their training as Clerics, and take to the martial, militant training granted by Fighters to better guard them against the forces of darkness - namely, undead and Demons and in some faiths, Angels.
Exemplars utilize powerful divine magic both of Radiance and Darkness, augmented by their chosen faith, to exact retribution over undead, demons, and even angels; they are a force to be reckoned with wherever those beings stir. Still, without those lurking threats, the Exemplar is able to engage in physical combat using the power granted to them by the divine to help shape the battlefield.
All Exemplars over their career take a number of Oaths that bind them to their faith. They are imperious and stalwart in these devotion, and breaking their oaths is the greatest sin an Exemplar can commit. Those who break their oaths too often will eventually be named Oathbreakers, and be exiled from their religious sect or even face the wrath of a Divine.
Warning: Heavy Roleplay requirements are present in Exemplar, due to the mechanic of their Oaths and the Oaths that must be followed therein. Characters should be advised that Exemplar is a heavy roleplay class, and that breaking the oaths in the Divine Hand role can lead to serious loss of class function.

The Divine Shield may use the base Incantation for Cleric if they have Cleric levels, or the base Druid Incantation if they have Druid levels. The base Incantation for Cleric is reproduced here for reference.
“I call my faith: divine and right, I wield and shape creation's light,
With fervent plea and ardent zeal, I summon strength for woe and weal,
From realms beyond, my power's source, With prayer and faith I give it force,
As vessel for the will divine, I claim the power that is mine…”
The Exemplar is a Divine caster and spell slots granted by this class are Divine Spell Slots.

While modern Exemplars generally come from clerical backgrounds, the concept predates modern practice, and with a little effort these traditions can be resumed.
The Exemplar may use the Druid incants instead of Cleric incants for Exemplar powers. Any time an Exemplar spell would add points to your Healing Touch pool, you may instead add those points to your Life Tap pool. Additionally, levels in Exemplar count as levels in Druid for calculating the Life Tap pool.

The Exemplar is a vessel for their deity’s righteousness. Because of this, the Exemplar is granted a certain level of mastery over the realm of their Divine benefactor, allowing them to draw upon divine power.
An Exemplar gains a point of Divine Grace at levels one, two and five. These Points refresh after completing a Long Rest. Most Exemplar Powers use Divine Grace as a resource, but they can also be used with the Grace powers listed under the Divine Hand Role. Points of Divine Grace granted from the Divine Hand role are additive with points granted from Exemplar.
