Weekly Bulletin May 27 - May 31, 2019 | Week 36 |
MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK |
This week is an exciting one for seniors as they finish their transition activities and get ready for prom and graduation...but the rest of us in the Boston Arts Academy community are still very much in the thick of the school year. The freshmen have MCAS this week; all students still have content and skills to learn and demonstrate. This is the time of year I ask students to remember how important it is to stay engaged in what they are doing and to end well. Performing artists know that the execution of the ending of a piece is crucial. A strong beginning and a powerful middle section can all be undone by an ending that falls flat, or even worse, falls apart. In the Visual Arts and Fashion departments, we talk about ideas being fully resolved and having refined craft. The point is to maintain focus until you have finished the process and finished the product. We are still in classes until June 14. We have RICO on June 17 and June 18 and the whole school BBQ on June 19. School continues until it ends, and I encourage students to maintain their focus all the way through. Have a great week! |
CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT OUTS |
Shout out to Cultura who performed for hundreds of educators, students, families, and advocates at the Fund Our Future Rally that took place on May 16th on Boston Common. Congratulations to the music department on a highly energized and luminous choir concert celebrating the one and only Aretha Franklin. Shout outs especially to Angelina Botticelli and Danny Rivera who worked on this event all year long as the culmination of their internships. Shout outs also go to Jacob Carrasquillo, Diane Thai, and Mr. Jentzen who were collaborators and supporters of this event. Have someone(s) to congratulate or shout out? Please email Ms. Booth --> tbooth@bostonartsacademy.org (be sure to include name and reason for the shout out) |
