CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Scholarly Communication Notebook, an IMLS-funded OER digital repository

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

The Scholarly Communication Notebook (SCN) team is excited to invite proposals for the development of open educational resources (OER) that reflect and encourage diversity in scholarly communication. The SCN is an online community/repository that is explicitly intended to support and educate a diversifying workforce of LIS professionals and to extend social justice values to all participants by intentionally and thoughtfully reflecting the people, institution types, and service models in scholarly communication.

TIMELINE

CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE

We are looking for OER that currently fill the gaps in scholarly communication research and instruction. Ideally, the proposed OER would entail at least a single class session (including pre-, in-, and post-class work) if not on a particular topic. Notes for instructors on how to use the OER are preferred. All of the resources in the Scholarly Communication Notebook, including those created by awardees will be openly licensed with a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license. Derivatives will be both permitted and encouraged.

EXPLANATION OF PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS

OER TOPIC AREAS

These awards are intended to support the creation of an open educational resource to support education and training for librarians engaged in the work of scholarly communication. For a list of example topic areas, see below.

OER FORMAT

Each resource should include, in some format, primary educational content and supporting secondary materials, such as discussion questions, writing prompts, suggestions for further learning, and follow-up assignments. For a list of example OER formats, see below.

INTENDED AUDIENCE FOR OER

Please describe the primary user and educational level of the proposed OER.

SUMMARY PLAN FOR EXECUTION OF OER

Please identify the following areas for your proposed OER: timeline, deliverables, and selected license. Our goal is to provide fully operational OERs in the SCN in time for the Fall 2022 semester, so a clear timeline will be necessary for the selection process. Likewise, an outline of the final products to be uploaded to the SCN is also required. While we intend for all OER in the SCN to be openly licensed (CC0 license), we are flexible if you prefer a different license. Please refer to the Creative Commons license options for more details.
