Waikanae Combined Rebus Club Inc.
Waikanae Branch History - click here
Rebus Clubs in New Zealand have their origins in the Probus and Rebus organisations. Membership is open to retirees, both men and women, who wish to keep active, expand interests and enjoy the conviviality of new friends and acquaintances.
We are a combined mens and womens club and meet on the second Tuesday of each month (except January) at the Waikanae Community Centre, Utauta Street, Waikanae, commencing 10am and finishing at around noon.
Our June and December meetings are lunch gatherings to celebrate Matariki and Christmas respectively.
Meetings in other months commence with Club announcements and a review of upcoming activities. After morning tea and an opportunity to chat, a five minute talk is given by a Club member based on their experiences and a guest speaker drawn from regional and local organisations.
Other activities
We have a range of special interest groups covering dining out, wine tasting, book reading, handiwork, garden visits, movies and rambling. Details of these can be found in our monthly newsletters by clicking on the link below. Trips and outings have been a regular feature of Club activities but are currently on hold during pandemic concerns.
Membership applications and obligations
An application form is available from our Secretary. The annual subscription is currently (2022) $25 per annum which increases to $30 in January 2023.
Members are encouraged to attend as many monthly meetings as their personal circumstances permit and thus enjoy the fun, fellowship and friendships which are the hallmarks of our Rebus fraternity.
Rebus members from other districts are very welcome to join us as a guest at our monthly meetings. Please call our President or Secretary ahead of your visit.
