The Path of the Dragon

Accent: Lightning

Primary Eye: Arcanorum

Qualifier: “Follower of Dragon”

"Where legends rise like mountains and myths soar like eagles, there exists a creature of unparalleled magnificence - a being that commands the very essence of nature's fury. Behold the Lightning Dragon, a serpentine force of raw power and untamed majesty, whose scales crackle with the energy of the storm and whose roar echoes like thunder across the heavens.

Dragon is revered as a symbol of awe and reverence, a guardian of the skies whose presence inspires both fear and wonder in equal measure. Born from the primordial chaos that birthed the world itself, this celestial being soars through the firmament with wings of pure lightning, casting its gaze upon the mortal realm with eyes that gleam like bolts of silver fire.

Dragon is more than just a harbinger of tempests; it is a force of transformation - a catalyst for change in a world fraught with uncertainty and upheaval. Where its electrifying presence touches the earth, life blooms anew, rejuvenated by the power of the storm and the promise of renewal that follows in its wake."

Tenets of The Devoted

Note: If you purchased one or more abilities in this Religion, and you knowingly break one of the tenets of the Religion, you will have all powers granted by this religion revoked until the end of the event (or longer), and may be subject to a redemption or atonement quest to regain these powers, subject to the discretion of the Plot Team.

Description

Known far and wide as the “First of the First,” Dragon was the very first of the First Children created by the Divines of Arcanorum. While his name is now synonymous with magical scaled lizards of varying shapes, colors, and myths, this creature was the first to bear the name “Dragon.” Many of their descendants spun off into various shapes and forms as the world was populated, but more than most, the serpentine First Children can claim to have descended directly from Dragon, a point often intoned with pride.

The Path of the Dragon seeks to enrich and reinforce this connection with the First of the First, drawing from the bloodlines of the First and seeking out the connection with the divine aspects of their creation. Through this reverence and inward contemplation, the Acolytes of the Dragon seek to purify and express the power inborn into each of them by their divine heritage.

Those unfortunate enough to not bear this lineage are not without hope, however, as all are of divine creation of one sort or another, and adherence to the Path can infuse the Acolyte with the bloodline lineage they seek through trial and ritual.

Qualifier

All adherents of this religion gain the Qualifier: Follower of Dragon. This means that the character will become targets of effects with that qualifier for as long as they maintain devotion to this religion. These effects will be both positive and negative, so be sure to be aware of the Calls being made around you.

For Example: Toric, devoted to Dragon, is fighting on the line during an incursion of undead. Behind them is a cleric of his order, Killian. Killian prays to their shared god and receives a boon in the form of “By My Voice, Heal 5 to Follower of Dragon by Radiance”. Toric heard this call, and is devoted to the religion, and so is healed. Meanwhile, Toric’s line companion, Juris, is not a member of the church, but heard the call. They, however, not being a devotee, are not affected by the call.

Elsewhere, the undead invasion is not without its necromancer, Yorric. Yorric likewise calls out to their deity, and casts that maleficent gaze upon his foes: “By My Voice, Wounding 4 to Follower of Dragon By Malice”. As before, Toric, (and his cleric friend) are affected by this call, but his linemate Juris is not.

Basic Religion Powers

Anointed of the Scale [Devotion] - 2 CP

The acolyte of dragon must take the Steps of the Scale, the first of which is to join the Sire in blood. To become one with the Path, one must become one with the Sire - only then may the clarity of mind and guidance of spirit take hold.

The character gains the first level of the Draconic Heritage Perk, ignoring the restriction disallowing it after character creation. This CP cost is refunded if they already have the Perk.

Walk Upon the Path [Devotion] - 2 CP

Built upon the forks of lightning and the heralding crack of thunder, the Acolyte of Dragon knows that while lightning does not strike twice, there is always the thunderous report soon afterward.

Whenever this character uses a Power with a Refresh of Short Rest (or longer) with the Lightning Accent they may Refresh one Spike.

Advanced Religion Powers

The character must have purchased all the Basic Powers of this religion to buy these powers.

Flash of Claw [Devotion] - 3 CP

Prerequisite: One Adept Spell or Advanced Power

“The Theurge spun with grace and ease deftly dodging the blows of their students: no less than four Acolytes, all well trained and skilled with the blade, allowing not a single blow to land. And yet, when the battle was over, the chagrined students protested that while they had not landed a blow upon the master, that he too had failed to land on of his own. Only then did the master smile and ask: ‘Are you so sure?’”

Name: Flash of Claw [Devotion] [Adept]

Incantation: “By the grace and claw of the sire, I rake and rend the foe asunder.“

If the caster expends a Spike, they may add two to the call and add the Lightning Accent, making the call “Double 3 by Lightning.”

The first time this spell is cast each long rest it will not consume a spell slot.

“The Theurge’s grace was second to none, deftly stepping from stone to stone across the river, never seeming off balance, hands clasped behind his back. More than a dozen stones lay between the two sides of the river, undisturbed by the teachers passing. Naturally, the Acolytes pride got the best of them, and each found themselves topping over into the bone-chilling water, wondering how the master had managed three steps across the stones, let alone a dozen.”

Name: Steps of Sire [Devotion]

Incantation: None

Call: Counter, Steps of the Sire”
