Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know, I have been a proud member of the BuffSci Staff for 5 years. I have been so grateful for your support on this journey and right now we need your help more than ever. We need you to advocate for BuffSci and the incredible impact we have on our students.

In a recent Board of Regents virtual session, a decision was made not to grant our renewal with 3rd and 4th grade additions. (Charter Schools are renewed every 5 years by the NYS Board Of Regents).  We firmly believe that this was a mistake that was aimed at stifling our school’s growth, not to close our programming.  Having exceeded all local and state expectations, being recommended for renewal, and having recently been approved for replication, we find the decision by the Board of Regents to be conscience-shocking. We are re-applying for this extension and the Board will vote again in June. We firmly believe that June will bring our renewal and hopefully a more positive political and emotional climate. We need to fight for our students and our community!

What We Want

Five-year renewal and a revision in the charter to increase the current grade span to include grades 3 and 4 so that our 2nd grade students can continue their education at our school.

You can help us by reaching out to the Board of Regents, Mayor Brown, Assembly member Peoples-Stokes, Senator Kennedy and Council President Pridgen to share your displeasure of what we believe to be a politically charged, irrational decision (See attached contact information).
