Batting Cage Code of Conduct
Coach & Team Manager Agreement
To ensure the safety of all participants and the proper use of our facilities, all coaches and team managers using the batting cage operated by Beacon Hill Baseball & Softball Association (BHBSA) must read, understand, and adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
1. Supervision and Safety
- A minimum of one adult coach or manager must be present at all times during cage use.
- No player may be in the cage without adult supervision.
- All batters must wear helmets at all times when swinging a bat inside the cage.
- No hitting or pitching into the interior or exterior walls of the cage.
2. Equipment Use
- Use of BHBSA equipment must be with care and respect. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the league’s Equipment & Facilities Director Neil Meechan at vpbaseball@beaconhillball.com.
- Pitching machines (if used) may only be operated by approved adults who have been trained on their proper use. Youth players are not to operate the pitching machines.
- Do not throw balls outside the cage or hit balls into the netting from outside the designated areas.
- All equipment must be properly put away and securely locked up before leaving the facility.
3. Facility Care and Cleanliness
- Clean up all balls, gear, and trash after each session.
- No food, gum, sunflower seeds, or drinks are allowed inside the cage. Water in a water bottle with a lid is permitted.
- Smoking and vaping is not permitted in or near the batting cage.
- Treat the facility with respect. Intentional damage or misuse may result in disciplinary action.
- The last booked team each day is responsible for bagging any trash and placing it in a City of Victoria garbage can. Garbage bags are available under the sink in the score booth area of the clubhouse.
4. Scheduling and Access
- Use the batting cage only during your designated practice time, as scheduled by BHBSA.
- Do not allow unauthorized individuals or outside teams to use the facility under your access.
- Any access outside of league-authorized times must be pre-approved by the BHBSA scheduler David Spence at uic@beaconhillball.com.
5. Behaviour Expectations
- Coaches must model and enforce respectful and sportsmanlike behaviour.
- No yelling, roughhousing, or horseplay is permitted in or around the cage.
- Any violation of this code may result in revocation of cage privileges or further disciplinary action.
Agreement
I have read and agree to follow the Beacon Hill Baseball & Softball Association Batting Cage Code of Conduct. I understand that failure to comply may result in the suspension or loss of batting cage privileges for myself, my team, or associated parties.
