MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Last Thursday, our dancers were honored to perform at the annual MLK celebration at the Strand. Last Saturday, the Spirituals Ensemble was honored to perform at one of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley's local swearing in events. The honor comes from the opportunity to celebrate such important people and the opportunity to mark such important moments in history.

MLK Day celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King's life and his message, a message that is central to our work as Artist-Scholar-Citizens. Martin Luther King, Jr. once wrote about the "creative" and "dedicated" being the people who make the world better. Since we began the school in 1998, that sentiment has been a guiding principle at BAA. My greatest hope is that our students will become the creative leaders we need in our communities, leaders who in the words of Dr. King are "molders of consensus" and who uplift humanity with meaning and purpose.

I wish the entire BAA community a Happy MLK day, a good week continuing Intersession, and I look forward to seeing you all Friday night, as we honor Congresswoman Pressley, who will be joining us, at the Strand for our "Memphis" production.

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT-OUTS
