How to Download Respondus LockDown Browser Software?
What is LockDown Browser?
- System Requirements: Windows 11, 10 and 8. MacOS 10.12 or 12+, iPad 11.0 + (Download app from App store, instructor must enable iPad access.) Mobile devices are not supported.
- All video conferencing apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, and online communication apps, capture screen content & printing will be turned off when LockDown Browser is in use.
- Close all browsers, unless one is used to connect you to the internet.

Quick Start
- Click on the download link: https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=247441260
- A new window will open. Click INSTALL NOW.

- The software will download to the bottom left of your screen. Click on InstallDBPackage.zip.

- The Install Respondus LockDown Browser window will appear. Click Continue.

- Continue the installation.
- Proceed with the installation process (Introduction, License, Destination Select, Installation Type, Installation, Configuration and Summary).
- When completed, a notification will appear: green checkmark “The installation was successful. The software was installed.”
- Click Close.

- For Mac Users ONLY.
(Skip 6 for Windows installation)
- Once downloading the software a pop-up window will appear. (If you do not see this pop-up, go to launchpad and click on LockDown Browser icon (Globe with lock.)
- Click “OK”.

Note: If prompted, either close a blocked program (e.g. screen capture, instant messaging) by choosing Yes. Or, close LockDown Browser and close the blocked program before starting.
- Next, the New York Tech portal window will open. Login with your credentials.

- Navigate to your Canvas course and find the exam. LockDown Browser is now in effect. The software will prevent printing, visiting other websites, searching the internet or using other applications. The screen view will be at full screen and cannot be minimized. You will also notice the browser screen may look unfamiliar. (See below!)

- Once the exam is submitted, the browser will close and unlock the browser.
Note: LockDown Browser will close upon exam submission.
