TMC Community Slack

Engagement Norms and Usage Guidelines

Welcome!

Welcome to the TMC Community Slack! We’re excited to have you join us. The TMC Community Slack is a space for our community to ask questions, share ideas, and support each other. It was initially created to help folks manage the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our staff, organizations, and community, and has since grown as a collective resource.

Norms and Guidelines

The TMC Community Slack is a supportive and inclusive space. We want this to be a pleasant and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of race, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all.

Now more than ever, we need to connect with and help each other out. To create the most conducive environment for such engagement to flourish, we have outlined our “norms of engagement” below:

Spirit of Generosity and Sharing: Come ready to share what you know, what you’ve tried, what’s worked and what has not.

Curiosity: Seek to learn from others’ perspectives and experiences. Embrace that we come from different contexts and communities, and we all have something to learn from everyone else.

Humility: We are all learning and growing together. Ask for and extend grace. Be deeply appreciative of others’ help, and don’t hesitate to seek support.

Friendliness and Inclusivity: Do your best to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Be mindful of what you say/share/do in the space. If you do something that has caused harm to someone else, own your impact. Acknowledge it, apologize, and don't do it again.

Harassment

We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If you have any concerns, please contact the moderators. They'll respond as promptly as they can.

Discretion

Please be mindful that things you say here may at some point become public. The chat is searchable and public. We cannot prevent people from screen capping or otherwise logging this Slack. We also can't guarantee that every member's login credentials and logged-in devices are secure. Files uploaded here can be downloaded by anyone with a login. Please exercise caution and refrain from sharing sensitive information that could harm you or others if it became public.

Message Retention

Because this is a free Slack workspace, we have restricted scrollback, but Slack—the company—retains complete logs of all channels and direct messages back to the creation of TMC Community. Slack is a U.S. company and therefore subject to subpoenas from U.S. courts. Our logs may be subject to subpoena and could become public as part of legal proceedings.

Moderators

The current admins are Amy Sonnie, Justine Xu, and Monna Wong. You can reach the moderators by emailing resources@managementcenter.org.
