Parks & Recreation Committee

Minutes for June 1  at 7:30 in New Borough Hall  

Next Meeting in office July 6  at 7:30

Attending:  Tom Price, Jo Schuler, Tess LaMontange,  Lori Kesilman. Derek MacMillan,

Absent: Andrea Antell

We are in need of ONE more member.  Contact the office if you are interested.

Committee Organization:

• Derek is chair
• Andrea is the treasurer
• Lori is secretary
• We meet on first Mondays of the month  

Minutes for tonight’s meeting:

1. Walkway plans

1. Walkway will be where the temp walkway is

• reworked pricing and it will be $1,000 and is covered in the grant money we received
• discussed what the path leading to the walkway
• decided on sign placement
• discussed laying water pipe and capping it for future use while doing bridge
• discussed skinny ballard
• Discussed small kiosk
• Discussed plantings for around the sign.  Tom will do some research on plantings.
• Derek shared plans that Civic has for moving the gate back down their path

2. Discussed where to put the batbox.  

1. Thinking on a south facing  garden post or another post nearby.  
2. They must be:

• attached at least 15 feet high
• free from obstructions with at least 20 feet of open space
• facing southeast to gain exposure to sunlight

3. Beehive for garden area

1. Derek discussed it with Vincent Aloyo, a beekeeper.  He will setup a meeting with him to walk the area.

4. New grant (with no match)

1. Tess will find out what the status of the grant is

5. Treebank

1. Discussed putting in white pines from treebank to replace the trees in park.  
2. Lori will find out about the treebank and get info back to the committee.
