MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

This Wednesday and Thursday seniors will be doing Humanities 4 Exhibition panels: half hour presentations where students in groups of three analyze and connect artistic work from different genres and different historical periods. These panels are the culmination of our Humanities curriculum, but also our arts history curricula. They represent multiple aspects of a BAA education: interdisciplinary thinking, research, presentation skills, and rigorous intellectual work.

This last academic exhibition ensures that each senior graduates from BAA able to speak about artistic vision, artistic technique, artistic history, the connection between the arts and social or political trends in history, and connections among artistic pieces. I am very proud to sit as an adjudicator for this exhibition, and I look forward to scoring and seeing the culmination of our seniors' efforts.

Have a great week!

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT OUTS

Congratulations to Jacob Downey and to Mariella Murillo for doing an amazing job at the WriteBoston Gala!

Shout out to Angelina Botticelli and Justin Dimanche who appeared in a NESN segment on music tech students. Check out the clip here!

Shout out to BAA Alum Paola Almonte Colon whose animation “Blossom” is currently on display on the marquee outside the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Blossom is about a flower growing from leaves and blooming into a beautiful flower, the spring theme to show the new beginning of life. This is connected to American Sign Language, which is the sign for flower or growth. The bottom panel shows the word Blossom, for a still image for the people to read on the Marquee. The hand is representing as a flower. The hand flower move gently in the wind, as a tiny flower fall and the leaves emerge from the ground to start a new life.

Congratulations to the Dance Department for another great Springfest Concert! The pieces were beautiful and inspiring, and featured several BAA alum. The show also incorporated work done by BAA Film students. Wonderful job, everyone!

Have someone(s) to congratulate or shout out? Please email Ms. Booth --> tbooth@bostonartsacademy.org (be sure to include name and reason for the shout out)
