Boarding Handbook 2020-21

Move In Day!

Friday, September 4, 2020

This year, we will have both Sherborne House and Ainslie House open for Boarding. When possible, students will have a single room.

In the days leading up to move-in day, you will receive an email from us regarding move-in instructions and parking information. Boarding Advisors will be available to assist on move-in day with any questions you may have about boarding, school, orientation week, the neighbourhood or anything else that’s on your mind.

We will have a move-in schedule with staggered arrival times. Students will have time to unpack, set up their rooms, enjoy a snack and a tour of the house.

There will be a house meeting later in the afternoon with your Boarding Advisor who will review the Orientation schedule and physical distancing protocols.

A few reminders:

One additional person who completes a health screening before arrival and wears a mask may enter the Boarding House to assist with student move-in. Otherwise, no visitors are permitted into the Boarding buildings. Parents are welcome to arrive on campus once the health pre-screening is complete and then say good-bye at the door.

Students will complete a health screening upon arrival.

Boarding staff will help students with their belongings.

Boarding Bubbles

Students will be assigned a Boarding Bubble in an effort to minimize the number of people a Boarding student will come into contact with in a communal living environment. Students who are in the same Boarding Bubble will be able to move freely between each other’s rooms without a mask. As soon as a student leaves their Bubble, they will need to sanitize their hands and wear a mask. Unfortunately students will not be able to travel between the houses, or between Bubbles.

There are a number of factors we need to consider when we create the Bubbles, i.e. age, grade, schedule of academic classes, room preferences, etc. You can share your choice of “Bubble buddy” and we will do our best to accommodate.
