Weekly Bulletin

October 23 - October 27, 2017  |  Week 9

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

Boston Arts Academy is (potentially) facing a big transition, and we have a meeting this upcoming Thursday, October 26 at 6pm to discuss it. I hope many families will attend.

After many years (over a decade) of advocating for a new facility, BAA may get approval this January for the construction of a new building at 174 Ipswich Street. I am grateful to the many students and families, most of whom are now alums and alumni families, who have supported this work. It is because of our families' support and our students' achievements that we may be getting this great investment from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston. The meeting on Thursday will include a presentation from the architects on the new building design.

But I want current students and families to know that I am focused, and all of the BAA staff are focused, on the nearer future: what happens next year and how we can best prepare to ensure that our students continue to have an optimal Boston Arts Academy experience. BPS representatives will share at the meeting the plan for BAA next year at the meeting. I will be sharing how we are planning for a transition, the kinds of supports we have lined up for the community, the communication and community relations work we have done in our potential new neighborhood, and how we intend to incorporate student voice and leadership. I am hopeful that families will come to the meeting with their questions but also their ideas about how we can continue to be the best Boston Arts Academy we can be...even if we're not at 174 Ipswich next year.

We are hoping to arrange some additional parking options Thursday night, and we will communicate in an all call if we are successful. Again, I am hopeful that we will have a large turnout this coming Thursday, October 26 at 6pm.

Have a great week!
