10 Ways to Stay Motivated and Achieve

Your Fitness Goals

By DebD

So, it is getting down to the wire. You’ve tried every fitness routine on the planet - outside of riding backwards on a camel - results seem slow and your motivation is dying. Now, it’s time to go on a whole other level.

You see, in the beginning you were enthusiastic. Your new figure and happy, healthier lifestyle was just as clear as a glass of sparkling water. But, as human nature has it, your will becomes weak and your body begins to balk.

In other words, when your will said “OK time to get moving,” the body said, “look, there is no need to rush, we’ve been doing pretty good so far, why not relax today.” That’s when the house of cards began to fall. So what are you going to do about it?

10 Ways To Stay Motivated and Achieve Your Fitness Goals

1. Never Give In

Never give in to discouraging words that tell you to give-up. Remember, “you are doing the right thing.” Human beings are funny creatures, we want instant gratification but that is not what usually gives lasting results. It’s those things that require steady determination and willpower that gives the most satisfaction.

2. Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself

OK, so you broke up with your fiancé, your cat scratched the legs of your new sofa, and you can’t find that earwax candle kit you received for your birthday. Hey, things happen and it is all a part of life.

It’s no excuse for letting yourself go. Remember: the body and mind are buddies and they really do help each other. Stay true to your fitness goals and you will become a more positive person as well.

3. No One Else Can Do It For You

It’s like being thirsty and asking someone else to drink your water for you. Regardless of how many times you talk to friends, family, therapist, or your neighbor down the street, it all comes down to you, numero-uno. You have to put in the work.

4. Snap Out Of It!

So you tried on the slacks you were hoping to fit into, and well, no luck. There’s still more work to do. Snap out of it! Rome wasn’t built in a day, and that new physique you are hoping for won’t be coming round the corner too quickly either. In order to stay motivated, visualize yourself fitting into those slacks two-sizes smaller. It will happen, just stick with it.

5. Lie If You Have To

Stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are. Even if you don’t believe it, lie if you have to. Just do it! If you live with other people wait until they’re not at home, and if you live alone; well, then all the better. This is a great motivator because you will become what you believe you are. Your servant the subconscious, will make sure of that..

6. Don’t Be Afraid Of Temptation

Actually, temptation can be a wonderful motivator. And remember, just because you “feel” something doesn’t mean you have to do it. After resisting the urge to go to the nearest supermarket and purchase a bag of cookies or eating the leftovers, your will becomes stronger.

7. Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

Alright you messed up, got stuck, and now you want to chuck it all in. Don’t…! In a way, it’s a good thing. Setbacks help you to re-group, analyze, and keep your motivator engines running even stronger, that’s if you’re truly motivated.

8. Put Away the Gadgets

There’s so much to distract us these days. Smartphones are a huge distraction as people can instantly get in touch with you and it’s hard not to answer a call or text. Constantly checking your social media account doesn’t help either. Turn off the gadgets when you put aside a certain time for  exercising, for example.

9. Be Selfish

Hey, staying motivated in order to get that bum into shape has to be something you want to do for yourself, not for others.

10. Stay Focused

If you have your mind on something else while you’re hammering a nail, you are likely to hurt your finger. Stay focused. Besides, the pain from that hammer will help motivate you to stay focused the next time you take your eyes off the mark.

So,there you have it, 10 ways to stay motivated. Now give yourself a pat on the back, and get moving! Good Luck!
