PROFILE

I have work for Neptune since April 2014, after working in the leisure industry scene 2004. At the start of my career I worked in many local leisure centres as a Lifeguard and Duty Manager. I was responsible for looking after all the swimmers in the pool as well as running the day-to-day administration of the various centres I worked at. I had a specific responsibility for health and safety and ensuring compliance with both company and government rules and legislation. It was here that i found my love of teaching swimming and was able to train as a Swimming Teacher and Lifeguard Trainer/Assessors. I had the opportunity to have my own classes, work with schools and run regular lifeguard courses to develop the future staff.

In 2010 I moved away from public leisure and moved into the private sector. This allowed me to develop my career in a new direction and move (somewhat) away from the pool area. This move gave me more time to work on the swimming lessons and extra work within the building. I was given the chance to expand my teaching levels and keep up with my lifeguard training both through courses and monthly training.

Within the time i had in the private sector i found a like of using the gym and helping others with how things worked when i was still working in the public sector i started my gym level 2 but never had the chance to finish it as the person i was going through it with did not wish to finish i wasn't given the chance to. Within the private sector i was able to use theses skill alongside the gym staff.

I also found that i enjoyed working with staff and helping them to develop their knowledge and skills within the leisure industry. Giving staff i worked with the chance to go on any developmental courses they wished to from customer service to gym training.

In April 2014, I was asked to take on a management role within Neptune helping run a local hydrotherapy pool and developing it over the next couple of year. Neptune Aquatic Solutions was then looking to develop a reputation for helping people within the local community and helping to keep the school usage up as high as they wish it to be. We are now one of the leading companies in the UK regarding the management and develop of hydrotherapy pools. Working with schools, councils and private organisations to ensure that hydrotherapy pools remain open and available for public to access.

Within my time at Neptune i have expanded my abilities and taken on more and more roles and responsibilities including adding parent and baby, disabilities and aquasize to the things i could deliver. Once i have done theses for a little while we at Neptune Decided that we wanted more ability to develop both our staff and other people in the industry so i have gone on to become a aquatics tutor and have the ability to teach both standard swimming courses and parent and baby.

We have developed a range of fitness tests, activities and sessions all built around the warm water and rehabilitation based exercises. We have found that currently fitness training/swimming teachers didn't have enough knowledge to teach these sessions. Therefore I have developed a new internally personal development program for our current instructors to upskill them to deliver these styles of sessions to our clients.

Within my role we have also developed the bridge between what the NHS say is back to normal and what people think is there normal life and abilities. We have worked as a team to build PHP (personal Hydrotherapy Programs) Theses are now being sold to by our staff across our sites at a affordable price for our users.

As a Pool Plant Operator, i have had the opportunity to advise companies on the build process of hydrotherapy pools and how some small design features can have major impacts onto the smooth operation and future develop of any hydrotherapy pool. Also helping other small companies with pool issues and giving advice on how to fix pool problems and helping them keep the business running.

All of this knowledge and experience has made me one of the leading authorities on hydrotherapy pools management, operations and design in the UK, this is something I am truly proud of.
