Biography

Dr. Amy Neaves joined the Office of Faculty Development in August of 2018. She formerly served Shaw University as the Director of Educational Technology, supporting faculty in building their pedagogical and technological skills as well as assisting faculty, staff, and students with cloud-based computing, paperless workflow, and the use of Moodle. As Director of the Office of Educational Technology, Amy managed all distance education at Shaw, promoting program quality and academic integrity, research-based best practices in distance education teaching and learning, and instructional design support for faculty teaching online, hybrid, and video-teleconferencing courses.

Dr. Neaves served North Carolina’s K-12 public schools for 17 years in instructional and district-level leadership roles while teaching part-time at community college and university, pursuing advanced degrees, and obtaining National Board Certification. She is passionately dedicated to teaching, education reform, and lifelong learning.
