Weekly Bulletin

March 11 - March 15, 2019  |  Week 26

MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK

This week the Fashion Technology advisory board is meeting. Boston Arts Academy is proud to have two career and technical education programs, one in Fashion and one in Design and Visual Communications (visual arts). Both programs have advisory boards--groups of students, family members, alumni, college representatives, and representatives from the industry--that evaluate the curricula and make suggestions for resources and materials. This is one of the ways that we make sure that our curricula are competitive and current, by having conversations with colleges and companies about what we teach.

There are four people in particular I would like to "shout out" on the Fashion Advisory board. The chair of the board has done a lot for BAA's fashion program: Jay Calderin, Founder, Boston Fashion Week and on the Faculty of the School of Fashion Design. There are also three alums who sit on the board: Anica Buckson, who graduated from RISD and now works in costumes at the Boston Ballet; Carlos Santiago, who graduated from Mass Art and now has his own fashion business; and Gerald Sullivan, who Studied Industrial design at Wentworth Institute of Technology and now is a Design Lead for Nike.

For all the fashion-minded members of our community, we have some exciting opportunities coming up on Saturday, March 16th. That day shoppers with a special bar code can support BAA at the Bloomingdales at Chestnut Hill. 10% of all tracked sales will be donated to the Boston Arts Academy Foundation. Barcodes are available on BAA's Facebook page.

Thanks for supporting BAA, and have a great week!
