Weekly Bulletin June 18 - June 22, 2018 | Week 40 |
MESSAGE FROM BAA HEADMASTER, MS. CLARK |
This week is the last week of classes (although not the last week of school), and it is the time of year I ask students to remember how important it is to stay engaged in what they are doing and to end well. Performing artists know that the execution of the ending of a piece is crucial. A strong beginning and a powerful middle section can all be undone by an ending that falls flat, or even worse, falls apart. In the Visual Arts department, we talk about ideas being fully resolved and having refined craft. In Fashion, students know that the finishings on our piece can make or break the piece. The point in all cases is to maintain focus until you have finished the process and finished the product. We are still in classes until this Friday, June 22. Next week we have RICO presentations and closing events. The last day of school is Thursday, June 28. As we close out the 2017-2018 school year, and prepare to say goodbye to Ipswich, which finish as well as we started. Have a great week! |

CONGRATULATIONS AND SHOUT OUTS |
Congratulations to the 9th grade visual artists and musicians on a successful Art Share! The visual artists and musicians demonstrated to each other how they employ the qualities of emphasis, balance, and contrast in their respective disciplines. Additionally, the visual artists taught the musicians how to create designs and illustrations with Adobe Illustrator. The students’ collaboration led to significant artistic and personal growth, and we look forward to continuing this tradition next year. Congratulations to the music department for their combined classical and jazz concert last week! The concert really showed the depth of the instrumental music program, with spirited and ambitious performances and a particularly impressive debut from the freshmen class. Congratulations to Mr. Adekoje and the following film concentrations students for last week’s successful Film Festival at the Paramount Center: Nick Allen, Jacob Carrasquillo (whose film The Sphere got awarded "Best Cinematography"), Jonathan Elliott (whose film X3 got awarded "Best Editing"), Val Gerena, Siobhan Green, Tajah Lee (whose film Self got awarded "Best Execution of a Concept"), Franklin Pimentel, Jayden Pontes, Demauni Sankey, Alexia Santos, West Sejour (whose film Rotten Roots got awarded "Best Overall Film "), Dillon Tedesco, Joseann Tejeda. The filmmakers were ambitious and took on big ideas, multiple locations, high quality post-production work, and pushed themselves beyond what they had ever done before. Have someone(s) to congratulate or shout out? Please email Ms. Booth --> tbooth@bostonartsacademy.org (be sure to include name and reason for the shout out) |
