Life Group FAQs

What is a Life Group?

Life groups are roughly 5 to 12 individuals who gather weekly or biweekly to encourage and care for each-other as the challenge their devotion to becoming ardent followers of Christ.

Why should I be part of a Life Group?

Life can be very challenging and we were made to be of one mind and heart in Christ.  So often prayer works more effectively when we pray earnestly for each-other.  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).

Where do Life Groups meet?

The group meets at a time and place that is appropriate for everyone.

What about childcare?

Each group will need to workout childcare, either as a group or individually. Some life groups are made up of young families and they have a babysitter or the children are entertained while the groups meet.

What do Life Groups do or talk about?

Every Life Group is different, but most begin are designed to share each other’s life story and to discover what it means to be part of a Christian community. After that, groups are can do book studies, devotionals or discussion on sermons.  If needed, groups can choose a curriculum to follow.

What is the life expectancy of a Life Group?

Every group will be different, but after the initial meetings it is recommended to go from August to May, with a short break in the summers. New groups can form or split if numbers get too big, etc.

What is the role of a Life Group leader?

Leaders are charged with guiding discussions with thoughtful questions and encouraging others to personally grow in their intimacy with God.  They are often cognizant of others, dedicated to growing in their own faith and provide as safe place for the group to have difficult or challenging moments in their discussions.
