Email Spartan Sam! By: Hailey Rojano and Aguilene Manuel
Spartan.sam@sausdlearns.net Students can email Spartan Sam, asking school-appropriate questions about a number of topics such as struggles with a friend, classmate, or staff member, homework help or study tips, relationships with others, or ways to better themselves physically, mentally, and/or emotionally etc. Sam is an anonymous advisor which students can contact through the sausd learns email. Questions will be posted in the school newspaper and will be published anonymously, meaning, your name won’t be attached to the question. So if you're struggling with anything, ask Spartan Sam! Lathrop Sports By: Amanda Nunez and Ilene Ochoa Volleyball: Volleyball student Esmeralda Sandoval, 8th grade, said she joined volleyball because she thought that volleyball was fun and a she likes the sport. Esmeralda said would she tell future volleyball players that “you should join volleyball because instead of being at home not doing anything, you can come to school and play volleyball. Volleyball isn’t just a sport it is fun and relaxing and way to make new friends!” Flag Football: Both Caleb Orellana, 7th grade, and Jessica Martinez, 8th grade, play flag football here at Lathrop. Jessica decided to join because she didn’t want to stay home and because it is something she can do to be active. Caleb decided to play because it is his dream to play football and because he loves playing. Both students said that Mr Alexander is a good coach. Caleb’s fastest mile time is 7 minutes and 21 seconds and Jessica’s is 8 minutes and 15 seconds.

By: Hailey Rojano and Aguilene Manuel Miss Holden, a new 6th and 7th grade ELA teacher, talks about her first year teaching at Lathrop. She says she likes working here because the teachers and staff are very nice and helpful. Her goal for this school year is to memorize all of her students names. She also says that her students are very energetic. We asked her what motivated her to become a teacher she said, ’’having a teacher you love and you get summers off.’’ In her free time she likes to go rock climbing and run a marathons and said she loves boba. Miss. Holden, was home-schooled until she got to third grade. At that point, she had realized she loved school and she wanted to be a teacher. What you see as flaws is part of what makes you special! “We can express ourselves through our strengths, talents and achievements.
