walthamstow.me
This is a new site. Have a idea for it? Click “edit me” on the top right and make a suggestion!
So, you’ve just moved to Walthamstow, E17, London. Congratulations!
Walthamstow has a strong and deep-rooted sense of community. However, as a resident, I often find people saying how hard it is to discover local groups, events, resources, and generally meet like-minded people.
Not just new arrivals, but also longer-term residents - are finding it hard to meet like-minded people, discover local organisations, join local events, find business support, etc. etc. Even life-long residents are finding it ad-hoc.
So, this is a simple community website to create a sort of springboard or signpost for everyone in Walthamstow.
If you want to get “Walthamstow’d up”, and be “walthamstow me” (spot the gag there), you’ve come to the right place!
Walthamstow’s communities are well-represented. Try these general groups:
Facebook: Walthamstow Life - an informal group for anyone with a Walthamstow interest. Over 11,000 members as of March 2017.
Facebook: Walthamstow Sell or Swap
Facebook: Waltham Forest Food & Drink Society - local foodies
Facebook: Walthamstow Recommends - find local businesses
Facebook: Walthamstow Professional Family Homes And Rooms For Rent -
Facebook: Waltham Forest Private Lettings

I’m John Field of Walthamstow, resident since 2013 (and an admin of Walthamstow Life). As you may have guessed, I’m a hands-on technical leader, agile architect, and veteran software engineer. Living in Walthamstow since 2013 and London since 2006.
This site is a test (also known as an MVP) - it’s currently implemented as a Google Doc with a custom domain. If the idea takes off, this may change depending on our community's needs.
